Combination Course

The combination course covers the following

School Catalog - 2024

Stick Welding

SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) is the most commonly used welding method in the steel industry. Due to its portability and flexibility, SMAW welders are in great demand. Having a certification in this process opens many doors for jobs in the steel industry.

TIG Welding

When first developed TIG was known as heliarc. Now it is called TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and GTAW ( Gas Tungsten Arc Welding). GTAW is used for thin metal mostly because of the fine control welders have when using it. TIG welding can be used for almost any type of metal, because of the control and versatility of TIG welding there is high demand for qualified TIG welders.

MIG Welding

MIG (Metal Inert Gas) also called GMAW ( Gas Metal Arc Welding) is a semiautomatic process. It can be used to weld many types of material including steal, stainless steel and aluminum. MIG works best when welding thin to medium thickness material. The high speed of welding when using GMAW has increased productivity and has made it a high demand welding process.

Fluxed Core Arc Welding

FCAW is a semi-automatic and automatic wire feed arc welding process that produces its own gas using the flux located inside the wire. Some flux cored wire also uses an additional outside source of gas for shielding. While flux core was first introduced in the 1950′s the amount of wire used today has grown since its introduction, because of the improvements in fluxes, a variety of diameters and new equipment have been developed. FCAW is primarily used with medium to thick steal and stainless steal. There is a great demand in structural welding for certified flux core welders.
